RHYTHM

17th April - 14th May 2024

Greville Street & Grattan Gardens, Prahran

About

BioRhythm is an adaptable sculpture that comes alive by synthesising the biofeedback of plants and urban surroundings, transforming the data into living soundscapes and explosions of colour.

ABOUT

COMBINING
TECHNOLOGY
AND NATURE

BioRhythm is a multi-sensory landscape and immersive public art installation which will transform the public square at the junction of Greville Street & Grattan Gardens from April to May 2024.

BioRhythm is a living, adaptable sculpture that transforms biofeedback from endemic plants and the surrounding urban environment into soothing explosions of colour and a constantly evolving light and sound show.

By blurring the lines between biology, technology and place, BioRhythm fosters learning and connection whilst igniting curiosity and discovery within the public realm.

As people move through the installation, visitors are invited to explore nature's intrinsic role in urban environments and deepen their perspective on place as they delve into QR code-enhanced educational materials.

Getting here:

Trains

  • Prahran Station on the Sandringham Line is the closest train station to both Greville Street and Grattan Gardens. Once you arrive at Prahran Station, it's a short walk to both locations. Greville Street is just east of the station.

Trams

  • Route 6 (Glen Iris to Moreland) and Route 72 (Camberwell to Melbourne University) trams run along High Street and Commercial Road, respectively, which are close to Greville Street and Grattan Gardens. You would need to get off at stops that are nearest to Prahran Station or along Chapel Street and walk a short distance.

  • Chapel Street also has tram services (like Route 78) that run north-south and can drop you close to the intersection with Greville Street, making it a convenient option.

Buses

  • Several bus routes service the area around Prahran, with stops along Chapel Street and Commercial Road. You would need to choose the bus route that best suits your starting point.

Walking

  • Once you're in the vicinity, both Greville Street and Grattan Gardens are easily accessible on foot. The area is pedestrian-friendly, and signage will guide you to your destination.
